KSC/KMS Announces New Alpine Coaches
Dear KSC/KMS Members, Staff, Supporters, Partners and Friends:
It gives us great pleasure to announce the following alpine coach appointments.
Mike Cahill—A KMS FIS coach for the past two seasons, Mike Cahill has been named the Head J4/5 coach and Alpine Head coach for the KMS BOOST program. With 14 years of coaching experience, Cahill has worked with a variety of high level programs including GMVS, KMS & the Winter Park Competition Center (CO) and has brought elite junior athletes to top national rankings. He holds a B.A. in Sports Management from Champlain College and is USSCA Level 300 certified.
“Mike brings a level of experience and professionalism to this position that will bolster the development of athletes in his programs,” said Gnoza. “He will add to the strong history of success that the Killington Mountain School and the Killington Winter Sports Club have earned. We’re excited to have Mike’s strong leadership for the youngest of our athletes.”
Scott Smith—Scott Smith, son of Killington founder Preston Smith, has been named as a J1/2 coach for KWSC/KMS. Smith (KMS ’76) was a member of the U.S. Development Team in 1979 and took 12th in Slalom at the U.S. National Championships that same year. He was a member of the University of Vermont Carnival Team from 1981-1984. Most recently, he has been the Head J4 Ross Coach and then the J4 Jones Coach at Suicide Six in Woodstock, VT. He holds a B.S. in Recreation Management from the University of Vermont and an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of New Hampshire.
Chris Clarke—Chris Clarke has been named the Head Ross Coach for KWSC/KMS this season. He will coach the youngest age group, also known as J5 (ages 8-9 in the Mid-Vermont Council Series, VARA), and in a sense, will be the first race coach these young athletes will interact with. Clarke brings with him a long history of more than 30 years of coaching and instructing at Killington and was an active Masters racer for more than 20 years. He lives with his family in Eastern Pennsylvania and spends winters in Vermont. He is a commercial pilot as well.
Will Courtney – Will Courtney, has been named J3 coach. Growing up as a ski racer Will attended Gould Academy where he competed at the FIS level. Last season Will was the Head J3 Coach at the Quechee Ski Club. Will is currently fulfilling his graduation requirements at the University of Vermont and will be graduating this spring with a degree in political science with a double minor in business administration and history.
The KSC/KMS Alpine coaches will be working under the leadership of KMS Head
Alpine Coach Tom Sell and KSC/KMS Program Director Matt Gnoza. KSC/KMS
is very fortunate to have this type of experience, passion, creativity and work
ethic as part of our team. The coaches will be starting at KSC/KMS thru out the

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE RACE DAY OUTLINE
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE RACE DAY OUTLINE:
Inspection: when inpsection open, make sure to see the coaches on the slopes at important sections of the course.
Race start: Greg is the only coach at the start. It's not an easy job to make sure all 30 Killington athletes are put together. So let's try to help him !
Here are a couple things:
1) make sure we put all KSC clothing together - we now have a bag that you can put your stuff in (Reliable racing with KSC written on it).You are responsible to get your clothing back (Parents, please don't enter the start coral, there isn't enough room)
2) skis are to be ligned up and ready to go
3) Need to pay attention on your start number - you should be getting yourself ready minimum 10 racers ahead of you. We need you to pay ATTENTION - there are a lot of you: we want to make sure you get the proper course report and proper race start preparation.
Thanks for your cooperation !

KSC Auction- This Saturday!
Hi Fellow Ski Club Members:
This weekend (Saturday night), we will be embarking upon our one and only fundraiser for the year. This Cocktail Party is not only a great way to raise money but is also a great time to talk with old friends and meet new members. Tickets are $20.00 and can be purchased at the KSC office or at the door. If anyone would like to help set up items, check people in or otherwise assist, I would appreciate your help.
We are still taking donations and have received many generous items for auction. As in past years, we will have such items (to name a few) as season passes, clothing, gift baskets, photographs, gift certificates, skis etc. etc. We will also do our traditional 50/50 raffle. The party starts at 6 PM at the Mountain Meadows. The Mountain Meadows is very close by, located near the end of the access road. Simply turn right on Route 4 and then take your first left and you will be there.
I know that we are all busy hustling and bustling in our lives. Some of us are transporting kids to events, races or friends’ houses, while others are working many hours. So please take a moment and share a few laughs with others all in the name of a good cause (us). The money we raise goes directly to the Club.
Thanks to the Mercier Family for starting this great tradition. I look forward to seeing all of you at the party and having a relaxing, much deserved, good time with you all.
Sincerely,
Andrea Stolar
